Lead pressman job duties:

  • Adjusts a printing cylinder to have necessary pressure between a cylinder and a blanket and helps printer to put packing properly under the printer’s blanket.
  • Controls supplying of paper, ink, paper stock roll, cleaning solvent, washing cloths to the press.
  • To guarantee continuous work of the printing press, renders assistance in case of lunches and breaks, including splicing of paper web and setup.
  • Helps a printer to thread a paper web through the printing press to achieve printing of high quality on each side.
  • Helps the printer to set inker drums and make adjustments.
  • Checks quality in accordance with requirements of Departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Shows a press sheet to a headman for approval, then shows it to a proof-reader for “okay” and guarantees approval to full operation given before.
  • Takes out finished paper stock rolls and puts them on the sheet support tray.
  • Cleans properly blankets and offset printing plates. Adjusts delivery and width of the stock in order to get it as a roll or a sheet according to the job jackets.
